TUEY CONNELL has a soothing voice that wraps around music and only lets go when he's performing an instrumental on his guitar or banjo. His show at Danny's Skylight Room, "Is This Love," is a nice combo of jazz and crooning. In celebration of the release of his CD "Under The Influence," he interprets standards ("Love Me Or Leave Me", "Too Close For Comfort") right along with his own compositions. My favorite is "I'm Coming Home," a spiritual rendered bright and breezy by his banjo. In a casual evening full of talent, he shares the spotlight with David Hazeltine on piano, Neal Miner on acoustic bass, and Joe Strasser on drums. And where does this one-of-a-kind artist fit into the world of cabaret? Right now, you should fit him into your schedule, and you decide. There's gotta be a place in the world of music for a shining star like Tuey Connell! Click on the website above for more information about his CD.
